Some of the uses of ArcView are:

Generate bathymetric data

• Tracking Analyst: Used to track the boat's position as bathymetry data is collected

Pre-process bathymetric data

• Interpolation: Data viewing and automation scripts are used exam the output of a data interpolation algorithm and remove suspect data points
• Surface Interpolation: A surface suitable for hydraulic modelling must be developed from the scattered data points
• Contour generation: Used to exam such items as water surface elevation

Support development of hydraulic solutions

• Substrate maps: Document substrate size and distribution
• Vegetation Cover maps: Document vegetation type and distribution
• Roughness surface: Using information from the above maps channel roughness height is determined for input into hydraulic models

Post-process hydraulic solution data

• Calculate distance to cover/substrate/EOW
