CEE 6440.  Saving Files on the CEE Server

The file server ceefs2.cee.usu.edu is the file server for this class. Students in this class should all have accounts on this file server. Your account was set up based on the email address you gave me on the first day of class, with default password CEEGraduat3. You should change this password.

There are two root folders for each student in this class.

1. Personal folder. This is for you to store work between work sessions, because GIS files are sometimes large and this may be more convenient than saving to zip disk, CD or memory stick. This folder is:
\\ceefs2.cee.usu.edu\giswr\<username> if your account was just created for this class or \\ceefs2.cee.usu.edu\class\<username> or something similar if you had an account before.

2. Web folder. This is for you to store files you want to publish to the internet. Any file you put here is visible to the entire world. The folder is:
\\ceefs2.cee.usu.edu\ceewww\ceegislab\giswr\<username>

Files placed in this folder have the internet URL

http://ceefs2.cee.usu.edu/giswr/<username>/filename.

It is customary to put a file named index.html (or default.html) in this folder that is your welcome page and contains links to the other files in this folder. You may wish to include on this welcome page a bit of information about yourself (e.g. your name and that this is your home page for the GIS in Water Resources Class).

These folders should be accessible from the student access computer lab by typing the addresses above into Windows Explorer address space:
